Saipem HQ, Kingston-upon-Thames

John Robertson Architects designed and implemented the 8,200 sqm interior design of the new UK headquarters for a turnkey contractor company in the oil & gas industry Saipem. Located at 12-42, Wood Street, the development comprises two interconnected buildings (previously known as Kings Place and Conquest House) overlooking Kingston rail station in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames.

The brief was to relocate 622 staff who were located in Saipem’s previous UK headquarters in New Malden and another satellite office that had become necessary due to expanding work load. Using the lease break as an opportunity to re-examine how they worked, as well as what their staff needed from their work environment and facilities, they decided to move to a refurbished shell and core building in Kingston.

This new home reflects the company values and the strong Italian identity of the parent company and many of the staff.
