A new NLA article co-authored by JRA Director Festus Moffat, exploring greater clarity and accountability across the built environment
We're delighted to share a new article by our Director, Festus Moffat, co-authored with Stephen Workman (Technical Director and Residential Sector National Lead, AtkinsRéalis) and Riah Wilkinson (Senior Mechanical Engineer, Integration), published today by the NLA.
Drawing on the work of the NLA Technical Competency Expert Panel, the article explores why standardising professional scopes of service is fundamental to improving collaboration, reducing project risk and strengthening accountability across the built environment.
As the industry continues to respond to the lessons of Grenfell and the evolving building safety landscape, greater clarity around design responsibilities, deliverables and interfaces between disciplines is essential. The article considers how a more consistent approach to defining scope can help move us beyond compliance as a procedural exercise and towards a culture of demonstrable competence, transparency and evidence-based decision-making.
