Creative studio Avco sensitively translate JRA's work into a compelling digital experience

29th January 2026

Last year, JRA engaged London-based creative technology studio Avco to lead a full website redesign. With a portfolio spanning educational institutions, cultural organisations, artists, and architectural practices, Avco brought a deep understanding of how to sensitively translate creative work into a compelling digital experience.

JRA approached the brief with a clear vision and robust brand guidelines. At the time, the website required complete modernisation, improving the speed, layout, accessibility, and the overall ease of content management for the in-house marketing team.

Avco responded with a design that places JRA’s architecture and design ethos at the forefront. The new homepage delivers an immediate sense of JRA’s work, combining video, curated project highlights, practice news, and journal post previews that create a dynamic gateway into the wider site areas.

Project pages have been fully reimagined, adopting a narrative-led approach to content. They follow the creative process, from initial sketches and early CGI studies, through to completed photography, allowing each scheme to unfold as a cohesive visual and editorial story.

A new Journal section supports regular sharing of practice updates and media coverage from JRA’s expanding offices in London, Edinburgh, and Poland.

At the core of the redesign is a flexible, high-performance editorial system. Avco developed an intuitive interface that enables JRA’s marketing team to manage content confidently and efficiently. The inclusion of page previews before publishing supports a smooth internal review process and ensures visual and editorial consistency across the site.

By taking a pragmatic approach and harnessing modern frameworks and trusted third-party services—including Sanity, Vimeo, and Algolia Search—Avco delivered a robust, dynamic website within JRA’s budget and timeframe.

The result is a fast, contemporary, and globally accessible website that is simple to maintain while effectively conveying the richness and complexity of JRA’s architectural storytelling.

“AVCO were a pleasure to work with. They had the perfect blend of technical knowledge and artistic sensibility to create our website and were responsive and patient throughout. Since its launch, the response from our team, collaborators, and clients has been overwhelmingly positive.” — Nathalie Bergvall, Director at JRA.
