JRA Associate Director Kerri Cooke featured in the latest RIBA / Fawcett Society report

News   5th November 2025

We’re proud to share that JRA Associate Director, Kerri Cooke, has been featured in the latest RIBA / Fawcett Society report, Build It Together: Women’s Experience in Architecture in the column Learning from Practices: Experiences of a Good Employer.

The report reflects on the industries progress and the gaps that persist, more than 20 years after the landmark 2003 publication, Why Do Women Leave Architecture?, which highlighted deep-rooted gender inequities in the architecture profession.

At JRA, we’re actively working to shift that narrative. Women make up 52% of our architectural team, and we’ve achieved full gender parity at Director level. We believe in challenging industry norms and leading by example to help shape a more inclusive and equitable future in architecture.

“I’ve worked for the same practice - JRA - since I completed my Part 2, so I’ve been there for 23 years, and through that time I’ve gone from a Part 2 student, to fully qualified, to an Associate, to a Project Director, and now to an Associate Director, with an option to become a full Director. During that time, I have had three children, so I’ve taken three maternity leaves and worked almost every combination of part-time to full-time work. The reason I have stayed so long in one practice is because of the flexibility and the support I’m offered.”
