JRA hosts workshop at Golden Lane Estate
Our team was recently invited by the London School of Architecture to host a workshop at the Golden Lane Estate as part of their outreach programme.
The Young Residents Upskilling Programme is a series of workshops for local young people, offering a Level 1 Foundation Project Qualification and encouraging them to engage with the built environment around them.
We were asked to develop a session based on our work at Great Arthur House. John Robertson kicked things off with a short presentation, sharing the story of the estate and simplifying the complexities of the building’s fabric performance for an audience of 9–12-year-olds.
The hands-on part of the workshop invited participants to reimagine the estate for the future. Using a 3D laser-cut model, the group brought their ideas to life through sketching, painting, and collage.
From colourful facades and rooftop allotments to waterfalls, jungles, and even matcha farms - the creativity on display was incredible.
The workshop was hugely well-received, and it was great to see such enthusiasm and imagination from all who took part.
The model created by the workshop participants will be displayed in our 2026 London Festival of Architecture exhibition in June.
