Shaping Inclusive Spaces: Empowering the Next Generation of Designers

Talks   6th August 2025

As part of the London Festival of Architecture 2025, Inas Al-Damee, Claudia Plamadeala, and Hannah Gasparutti from JRA visited Star Primary School to deliver an engaging workshop on inclusive design: fostering early awareness of accessibility and empathy in the built environment.

The session encouraged pupils to think critically and creatively about how the built environment can better support people with disabilities, neurodiversity, and mental health challenges. Through hands-on activities and group discussions, pupils explored how we all experience spaces differently - through sight, sound, smell, touch, and movement.

This initiative is a great example of how early conversations around accessibility and inclusion can inspire the next generation of changemakers. More than just meeting regulations, it’s about designing spaces that spark joy, calm, safety, and connection for everyone.
