51 Moorgate granted planning permission

Planning permission has been granted for the refurbishment of 51-53 Moorgate in the City of London, designed by JRA to provide a flexible office building for client SPD Moorgate Ltd.

Situated within the Bank Conservation Area, on the main thoroughfare between Moorgate and Bank, plans include adding a seventh storey which will increase the office accommodation from 5,903 to 6,429 sqm and recladding both the Moorgate and Coleman Street elevations in a style in keeping with the surrounding streets.

JRA will also improve entrances and add additional retail and lighting to the Coleman Street Buildings, a historic public passageway that runs directly through the ground floor of the building to create an active and inviting appearance. Internally, the offices will be refurbished to CAT A and currently obsolete building services will be replaced which will contribute to improvements to the building’s environmental credentials.
