JRA Designed 51 Moorgate First Building Awarded WELL Platinum

51 Moorgate, JRA’s flagship London office for client and occupier Skanska, is the first building to be awarded WELL Platinum through the v2 pilot.

The certification is the latest iteration of the scheme from the International WELL Building Institute and takes into account all aspects of a building’s design and function that contribute to occupier health and wellbeing. Core features that contributed to the certification include living walls, high-levels of fresh air, water quality monitoring, and a technology-free ‘wellbeing room.’

JRA’s work at 51 Moorgate spanned the base build and fit out of the eight storey offices, beginning with refurbishing the original 1980s building. Reusing the existing structure saved 43% of overall carbon emissions. It has been recognised as highly sustainable by receiving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

The team created new elevations on both Moorgate and Coleman Street, bringing the offices up to BCO standards, and replacing obsolete building services. The fit out was designed in close consultation with the client and tenant steering committee.
