Re-cladding of Grade II Great Arthur House completes

JRA has completed the re-cladding of the iconic grade II listed Great Arthur House on the Golden Lane Estate, originally designed by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon and completed in 1956.

The façade was comprehensively replaced, including the distinctive yellow panels on both sides of the 15 storey tower, once the tallest residential building in the City. JRA worked in consultation with historical groups to ensure a close match in colour and material for the replacement panels, whilst exceeding thermal performance and introducing double glazing. All work was carried out with residents in situ, enabled by a bespoke temporary curtain wall and complex coordination.

The landmark project was in partnership with City of London Corporation and residents of the tower.
