Frederick’s Place, London EC2

Client: The Mercers' Company

JRA has prepared a masterplan for the regeneration of The Mercers’ Company’s estate at Frederick’s Place.

Frederick’s Place is located within the Guildhall Conservation Area in the heart of the City of London and forms an attractive cul-de-sac accessed from Old Jewry in the east and bounded by Cheapside and Becket House to the south and Ironmonger Lane to the west. The buildings include 18th Century Georgian townhouses, many of which have been attributed to the renowned Robert & James Adam and six of the group are Grade II listed.

JRA are currently undertaking the sensitive refurbishment and restoration of these historic properties for The Mercers’ Company, bringing the existing buildings back into commercial use for modern City occupiers, while respecting the historical and conservation issues of the local area.

The masterplan includes a new restaurant, retail and a coffee house together with a centralised cycle store within the vaults under Frederick’s Place.
