Minerva House, London SE1
The refurbishment of an expansive 1980’s office building in a waterside location.
Overview
JRA is Executive Architect for Minerva House (aka The Delft), a refurbishment project of a 1980’s office building located on the River Thames, with Southwark Cathedral and Borough Market to the south, the Golden Hinde to the west and London Bridge to the east. The building will be partially demolished and extended upwards by three levels creating an nine storey building. Once complete the building will provide Grade A office space, cascading terraces, retail, affordable office space, end of trip facilities and a new public realm.
The existing structure is concrete with a coffered slab and the new concrete is post tensioned. The façade consists of reconstitued stone panels with brick inlays, infilled with an aluminium window system.
The project is targetting the highest standards of sustainability and whole life carbon, aiming to achieve the following accreditations: BREAAM Excellent, WELL Core Gold, NABERS 5*, WiredScore Platinum, minimised embodied carbon and minimised operational carbon.
The project is on site and the target completion date is January 2027.
